Our Laboratory Facilities

Radiology

We have in house X-ray capabilities and produce true positive images. We can also do fluoroscopy of objects for live real time analysis.

Thermal Imaging

Our engineers can perform real time thermal analysis on products or assemblies utilizing color thermal imaging equipment. The results provide temperature measurements of entire assemblies without the need to attach numerous thermocouples to the items.

Thermal Testing

Our laboratories have an assortment of computer controlled environmental chambers. We have high temperature muffle furnaces that can reproduce the standard fire temperature curve for evaluating materials decomposition and behavior in both oxidizing and reducing environments. We can evaluate materials or assemblies at temperatures as low as -100 degrees Fahrenheit in a controlled environmental chamber. Our testing can also include a controlled humidity environment.

Microscopy

Our lab optics are the best available to provide accurate and precise images which contain superlative contrast, excellent color fidelity and detail richness. The laboratory optics can produce images of the highest fidelity for precise measurements, analysis and documentation. We can magnify images to 120 X and assemble a topographical map of an item, at that resolution on a 2’ page. The laboratory images can be produced by our 3 chip CCD video camera with frame grab capabilities and/or our Nikon 6.1 Mega-pixel digital camera.

Photography

Our engineers and technicians use the top of the line Nikon SLR cameras (digital and film), professional Panasonic and Sony video cameras for lab and field documentation.

Electrical Testing

We have an impressive array of electrical testing and evaluation equipment in our labs. Our capabilities include current testing from microamperes to 6,000 amperes and voltage testing from micro-volts to 15,000 volts.

Our staff documents test results with computer controlled data loggers connected to process sensors for a thorough evaluation. High Pot testing and Megger testing are part of our regular evaluation. A Digital Storage Oscilloscope is used to capture transient events that happen quickly.

Video Analysis

Our facility has complete video editing, assembly and copying capabilities. We can process DVD-R, DVD+R, SVHS, VHS, VHS-C, VCD and other formats and we can provide copies of our findings on any of these formats. We also have the ability to create multi-frame stills from video, as shown here.

HVAC Testing

We perform testing and evaluation of gas and propane utilization equipment. We can undertake operation testing to verify performance specification and combustion by-products such as carbon monoxide content and more.

UL, ASTM and ANSI Testing

We can perform product testing on items or assemblies to evaluate conformance to various standards.

Ultrasonic Bath

We have a line of ultrasonic baths that can remove contamination from delicate evidence to prevent further corrosion. Items are then typically vacuum sealed to minimize any further deterioration.

Prototype Fabrication

Simple prototypes and test setups can be fabricated in house to save time and money.

Audio Analysis

Our engineers have the knowledge and equipment necessary to analyze audio files, reduce noise levels and edit these files for evaluation.

Presentation

Our digital lab can produce an array of materials that can reduce the complex scientific concepts involved with a case to simple exhibits that a jury made up of lay citizens can then understand and use in their deliberations.

Our CAD personnel are versed in the latest 3D CAD programs as well as modeling software that can animate our dimensionally accurate reconstructions such that they can come to life or be used to walk the jury through an incident scene. We can produce demonstrations by means of full-color printed output on the standard 8.5” X 11” to large 2’ X 4’ formats, or we can transfer these images to digital media to be utilized with courtroom projection systems.
